After two years of failing to reach its property tax target, the GHMC finally managed to swing back this year, achieving 49.6% of the annual target close to 1,000 crores. Until August 2, 2022, the civic body had collected 993.8 crores from 9.64 lakh property owners. A total of 2,000 crores is expected to be generated by the corporation by 2022-23
Its record collection can be attributed mainly to the early board scheme. They collected 741.35 crores in April alone, with hundreds of taxpayers taking advantage of the 5% rebate. In just four months, Khairatabad made the highest contribution with 259 crores, 44% of its annual target. With 216 crores, serilingampally zone collected 54% of its total target of 393 crores, the second highest collection. 69.64 crores were collected from the Charminar zone.
